Toro Vaun - Rediscovering Home

Toro Vaun spent most of his young life in a refugee camp in Thailand after fleeing the genocide of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge in the late 1970s. After immigrating to the United States in 1992, Toro and family flourished, but while most of his family traveled back to their home country to visit those left behind, Toro never did.

After hearing of the death of his father in 2011, Toro decided it was time to go back and discover for himself what had become of his country.

Chef Jason Stocks aims to get most of his ingredients from farms as close to the restaurant as possible. “The word ‘farm-to-table’ is cliché nowadays. I think that’s how everyone should be cooking; it should be a given,” Stocks said. “We just cook with the best possible ingredients as closely sourced as we possibly can.”

Sailfish Brewing Company opened for business in April 2013 near downtown Fort Pierce. In February 2017, the brewery opened a new taproom and increased its production to a 20-barrel system.
